In late April 1945 the bloodiest part of the bloodiest battle of the entire Pacific War was raging. Right in the heart of which, and captured on film, stood one man, who, over the course of that fight, repeatedly braved enemy fire, rescuing more than 50 men in one of the most outstanding acts of heroism in military history. And the incredible thing? He did it all unarmed.
But, does what is commonly known about that story, actually match what really took place? In this video, using original combat footage from that fight, archive material and testimony of those who were there, we’ll answer that very question. This is the true story of Desmond Doss on Hacksaw Ridge.
