To the exhausted Marines watching below, it seemed the battle for Saipan was finally over. Just a few hours later, the man who captured this film was dead. But how did a young Marine cameraman, recommended for the Navy Cross, survive one of the Pacific War's bloodiest battles, only to lose his life at the point of victory?
