Description
*Lope copies his dad Oumbi with funny belly wobbles.*
I don’t think him pulling faces has anything to do with his reflection in the camera, as gorillas don’t possess the ability to pass the mirror test, meaning they can’t recognise themselves in their reflection like, for example, chimpanzees can. I believe it’s because he’s wobbling his belly – a bad habit he picked up from his dad. Oumbi always used to do it to make himself sick ( Oumbi is recently starting to doing this again) . It has something to do with him eating too quickly. Oumbi got medication and food pellets he had to pick up slower, so he couldn’t eat as fast. Lope picked up on it and has done it ever since, but I’ve never seen him being sick.

Due to background noise from human activity, the original audio has been mixed with natural bird songs for a more peaceful viewing experience. Where possible, I will keep the natural sound intact.
