Description

*🌿🦍Welcome to my premiere! Meet the two new gorillas from Chessington World of Adventure who have joined the Twycross Zoo troop* https://youtu.be/00EFIpEemMQ Thank you so much for joining me today. Make sure to turn on captions so you can follow along with everything that is happening! Finally, I can tell and show you more about the two new gorillas that have joined Twycross Zoo. I have been eagerly waiting to share this exciting news with you all. It has really been all going on behind the scenes, and the introduction was not quite as easy as you might think. As you can imagine, a massive change like this all takes time. The inside of the gorilla house was actually closed for a while, so the waiting game was well and truly on to see if they would come outside! Firstly, let me introduce the newcomers to you. This is the female gorilla, Shanga. She is 25 years old. Her son is called Aarde, and he is just four years old. Shanga also has a daughter called Kuanza, born on July 16th 2012, and another daughter called Kipande, born on April 19th 2018, but they stayed behind at Chessington. They were all born at Chessington World of Adventure & Zoo. If you want to see them when little Aarde was just one year old, you can check out this playlist 👉 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXC1aShJSBiWoxuuNvBF9X6-_OfQpczov 🌲🌳The most interesting thing about this move is that they have never felt grass under their feet before! It really does make you wonder what they thought when they saw it for the very first time here at Twycross Zoo. The other amazing thing is that this is also the first time they have ever seen a wider, open area. They were never able to look into the distance before, as it was all pretty confined at Chessington with big walls. Since you cannot see the roof at Chessington, I do not know exactly how open it was, but there was a lot of light, so I assume it was a semi-outdoor enclosure with some sky views but very limited. The journey you are taking right now in this video is the exact same one I did while filming. This video was the first one: https://youtu.be/00EFIpEemMQ and this one now that you are watching is put together from two different days! I will let you know in the captions exactly when the next day starts. My first impressions of the two moving to Twycross is that Aarde is a very confident youngster. Having grown up with older siblings, he is not shy at all and is completely ready for any rough and tumble! Mum seemed a bit shy at first when coming out, but she seems to have taken to Oumbi, as you will see in the video. It would not surprise me if they become very close. At this stage Ozala is still being kept separate. Asante has been really quite confident since there was no Ozala and she doesn't seem to mind the new commers. She is growing rather fond of little Aarde! #gorillas #twycrosszoo #animalintroduction
