Can Cadillac's AWD stand up to Audi's Quattro or Mercedes 4Matic AWD? In today's teardown, I'll be cutting apart a Cadillac CTS AWD transfer case to see the internal mechanics, the clutch pack engagement, front to rear torque distribution and exactly what goes wrong when these units start making noise or shuddering.
The transfer case in this video was from a 2016 Cadillac CTS 3.6 V6 with 140,000km on it. It was paired with the GM's infamous ZF 8HP 8 speed 8L45 transmission, of which you can view the teardown video here:
