Description
New trains are coming to the Amtrak Cascades rail corridor! In July of 2025, Siemens Mobility completed the first of eight new AIRO train sets for use in the Pacific Northwest on Amtrak Cascades. After months of testing back east, the first train was shipped west, arriving into Seattle on May 16th, 2026 for a last round of testing and crew training. The first three trains are anticipated to enter service this fall. In this video, we will talk about the new Amtrak AIRO trains and then follow the very first set for Amtrak Cascades all the way across the state of Washington as it was moved on the Empire Builder long distance train.
