Amtrak’s Floridian, bound for Miami, FL, flies through Bryan, OH on one of the longest straight sections of track in North America. This section of the former New York Central Railroad mainline was the location of a record breaking test run in 1966 where a self propelled rail diesel car was fitted with two jet engines. The car reached a top speed of 183 miles per hour, a record that remains unbroken in North America to this day.
