A Transmission that Outlasts the Car! Kia Hyundai 6 speed Automatic Teardown!

Here’s a look inside the Kia / Hyundai 6 speed automatic transmission and how it works! This transmission was out of a 2013 Kia Optima with only 135,000km on it. These are the same transmission used in the 2011 and up Hyundai Sonata. It features three planetary gearsets, clutches and an electronically controlled valve body with eight solenoids. Overall the design is very easy to work on and simply put together as no special tools were needed for disassembly. As expected, no failure was faulted with this transmission as this car’s engine blew out first! Therefore these transmissions are almost guaranteed to outlast the car, especially at this age, and are dirt cheap since many salvage bad engines cars are out there to choose from.
