Description

In the summer my workshop used to get crazy hot, it has a tin roof & metal doors. The sun here in New Zealand has a lot of radiant heat, causing the roof & doors to get so hot you could fry any egg on them on the hottest of days - not ideal when making videos! The first step was to build a car port in front of the workshop, this keeps the sun light off the metal doors. The roof was next - build a 2nd roof above the original creating a thermal barrier between the new & old roofs. This made a huge difference & a bonus was the noise from heavy rain grestly reduced too! However, on the hottest of days the workshop still reaches temperatures which aren't ideal when filming to be honest. So, I decided to relocate our mobile airconditioning unit to the workshop. I need it tio be out of the way & to operate at a flick of a switch, no exposed hoses or power cables... So, I had this job to do & I thought it would be a good ifdea to film it as it may be helpful to some viewers planning the same given aircon is becoming very popular these days. The unit also provides heat too so in the winter it can be used to raise the temperatures as they can get well below freezing some mornings - not ideal for that 8.30am livestream! I'm a mechanic, not an expert aircon installs so please don't take the content of this video as been the right way to do this task - it works for me, your equipment ior building may well be very different & require a different method of install.
