Located on the Demonstration Stage in the Interior Sets area next to Hagrid's Hut and the Green Screen experience, this fascinating presentation reveals how filmmakers created the illusion of broomstick flight throughout the Harry Potter film series. During the demonstration, Studio Tour Interactors showcase the original Quidditch polearm rigs used during filming and explain how actors were mounted onto the equipment before being filmed against blue and green screens. Guests can learn how these innovative techniques helped create the spectacular flying sequences seen throughout the films and established the visual style for broomstick scenes across the entire Harry Potter franchise. Quidditch is the most popular sport in the Wizarding World, played on flying broomsticks by two teams of seven players. The game features Chasers, Beaters, a Keeper, and a Seeker whose goal is to catch the Golden Snitch. During his first year at Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Harry Potter became the youngest Seeker in a century after Professor McGonagall spotted his natural flying ability. Harry's first Quidditch match against Slytherin remains one of the most memorable moments from his first year at Hogwarts and helped establish Quidditch as one of the most iconic elements of the Wizarding World. After watching the demonstration, guests can continue to the nearby Green Screen experience and climb aboard a broomstick themselves. Using technology similar to that used during filming, visitors can soar above Hogwarts Castle, chase the Golden Snitch, and experience the thrill of Quidditch before purchasing a souvenir video of their flight. The Quidditch demonstration forms part of the First Year at Hogwarts event, running from 7th May to 7th September 2026. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the event features original props, costumes, interactive experiences, Wizard Chess displays, Fluffy the three-headed dog, and special exhibits inspired by Harry Potter's first year at Hogwarts. Warner Bros. Studio Tour London opened in 2012 at Leavesden Studios, where all eight Harry Potter films were produced. The attraction showcases authentic sets, costumes, props, creature effects, and filmmaking secrets from the Wizarding World. Similar Studio Tours can also be found in Tokyo and Hollywood. Leavesden Studios is also home to the upcoming HBO Harry Potter television series starring Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The new adaptation is expected to premiere in 2026.
