Magic of Dudley Zoo Jim and Joe Hug That Melted My Heart

Then Jim gives Joe a proper hug. So adorable sweet. Normally they are always playfighting, so to see this scene just made me melt🫠. When Joe leaves, Jim just doesn't want to let go. They are spending their time near that electric fence again. With 1,300 square metres of outdoor space you would think they rather play somewhere else. The Magic Behind the Lens 🎥 Some of you ask how I film through a fence. It is a bit like looking through a net curtain from the middle of a room. Because I am standing behind a safety rail, the camera has to "look through" the gaps in the wire to find the orangutans. Most of the time, the camera is so focused on the animal that it completely ignores the fence, blurring it into nothingness. However, you might see faint lines when: 🌿The "Close-Up" Effect: When an orangutan walks right up to the wire, they are so close to the mesh that the camera starts to pick up its ghostly shadow. ☀️The Sun: Sometimes the light hits the metal at just the right angle to create a little shimmer on the screen. 🕺Quick Movements: This is when it gets really difficult! If an orangutan moves suddenly or swings quickly, the camera has to refocus in a split second. During those fast movements, the camera can "catch" the wire for a moment as it tries to keep the animal in sharp focus. That's when I have to cut the footage and the scene seems a bit abrupt.
