Description

Hi everyone! I'm back after a holiday! Welcome on board a brand new sunny ride. This time on many request a ride on the Sprinter from Amsterdam to Utrecht (and Arnhem) while driving on ERTMS between Duivendrecht and Utrecht Zuilen. Enjoy! 0:00 Amsterdam Centraal We'll start the ride in Amsterdam Centraal with a European Instruction (EI) coming from the train dispatcher. There's a faulty track right after Amsterdam Amstel where we are not allowed to drive faster than 40km/h. Therefor we receive the EI. After we've received all the details we repeat this back to the train dispatcher to make sure all info that came through is written down correct. And then we are ready to leave Amsterdam. 4:04 Oostertoegangspoorbrug 4:52 Oosterdoorgang 5:18 Dijksgracht West On the left you can see the construction was still going on at that time. In april the new fly-over was taken into service with two out of the four planned tracks going over the fly-over. Of course there will be an update about all this later. Now the rest of the build must be done in the upcoming months. 7:42 Amsterdam Muiderpoort Still a minute behind on schedule because of the EI we received at Central Station. 10:44 Amsterdam Amstel Remember! We have a EI coming up after this station at kilometer 2.0! 12:19 European Instruction in Place! 40km/h is the maximum speed allowed at kilometer 2.0. As soon as we've passed it with the whole train we are allowed to gain speed again. 14:05 Duivendrecht (ATB to ERTMS Transition) Here our system changes from ATB to ERTMS. From this moment on we do not drive on the light signals and other signs outside. But we follow up what is being shown to the driver on the display in the cabin. 15:40 Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA Under ATB we would need to slow down to 40km/h because of the 'yellow-4' task on the light signal. But ERTMS does exactly know how fast the train can slow down. Therefor ERTMS gives the task to slow down much later. This is on e of the pro's when driving under ERTMS! We make a 11 minute stop-over at Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA with this train. I did not fast forward this because there's a lot to see in that time. Enjoy all trains and metro's passing! 27:10 Departure Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA Time for departure. After we've left the station a maximum speed of 160km/h is allowed. We won't be driving that speed to Utrecht because our SNG Sprinter is still limited to 140km/h. This speed limit will be taken of in the upcoming weeks. 28:32 Amsterdam Holendrecht When approaching a platform the speed will go down to 140km/h again. This will happen at all platforms on the route to Utrecht. This is done for passenger safety. Because with a higher speed allowed the platform lines should be placed further back at from the platform edge as well. And that's not needed at this line because the middle tracks are mostly used by sprinters (that stop) and freight trains (that run lower speeds). 31:30 Province Border 31:57 Abcoude 33:37 Rien Nouwen Aquaduct 39:41 Breukelen 44:54 Maarssen 48:39 Werkspoorbrug 49:04 Utrecht Zuilen (ERTMS to ATB Transition) Time to change back to the good old ATB system. As you will see the speed will be lowered on ERTMS before the change is done. After this we smoothly change back to ATB. From this point on all signals given to the driver next to the tracks must be followed up again! 51:20 Utrecht Centraal Arriving at the busiest station in our country. After a short stop this train continues towards Arnhem. In the old train schedule this would've been the final stop for this train. But now during the busy hours it runs between Uitgeest and Arnhem! :D 57:12 Utrecht Vaartsche Rijn 1:01:05 Bunnik The speed is set to 80km/h because there's a level crossing some hundreds of meters behind the station Bunnik. If we would depart on full speed from this station we would reach the level crossing before it's fully closed. Therefor the 140km/h mark is set a bit further after the station. This is only for sprinters. Intercity run on full speed here because the level crossing will then be activated earlier! 1:05:01 Driebergen-Zeist After this station we only stop at intercity station. :) 1:11:59 Maarn Goederen 1:13:01 Maarn 1:15:46 De Haar 1:19:59 Veenendaal-De Klomp (Province Border) 1:25:41 Ede-Wageningen 1:32:05 Wolfheze 1:33:33 Oosterbeek 1:34:47 Arnhem Centraal Arrival at our final stop for this video! I hope you liked the ride. Don't forget to hit the thumbs up and please let me know in the comments your questions and other comments. :D Have a wonderful weekend!
