Version 1.2... Youtube messed up the Friday video with blur. So I had to upload a new version on Saturday. Now with correct details Tunnel Groene Hart. 😁 On many request I finally got the time to get a recording of the full DMI view instead of only the speedometer. On the HSL you will also see the 'planning area' on the DMI. I hope you will enjoy all the extra information while running under ERTMS. 0:00 Introduction + Technical Train Details We have 8 carriages of ICNG with a total length of 164.9 metres (6). 1:20 Rotterdam Centraal We depart from Rotterdam Centraal. This train normally arrives from Brussels but starts in Rotterdam today because of construction works and a changed train schedule. 2:45 Wrong Camera Setting It will happen three times that the camera is trying to correct the curved track movement. I choose the wrong setting. But don't worry. The speedometer will be in full view after the curve. 3:14 Entering High Speed Line (HSL) - Radio Block Centre Time to enter the HSL. This means the train connects to the Radio Block Centre to receive all digital movement authorities. As soon as we pass the last light signal in Rotterdam the DMI view will be activated on your screens. The first 'signal block' we drive in ETCS Level 1. But after the next Stop Marker Board the train will change to ETCS Level 2. 4:04 HSL Voltage Change-Over - Tunnel Rotterdam Noordrand The train will fully automatic lower the pantograph and set up the new one after passing the 400 metre grounded wires. While entering the tunnel the train will go into 'air tight' mode. This is to prevent the pressure in the cabin going up and down all the time while driving on full speed. The 'non-stopping-area' is marked here because of the tunnel. Later more about this! 8:12 HSL Viaduct Bleiswijk - Neutral Section The high voltage systems are cut in multiple sections to prevent too many trains from draining the wires. To do so the section are separated by a powerless wire halfway the HSL routes. The pantograph will stay in the upward position. But systems like airconditioning and motor power will not be available when passing this section. After a 400 meter powerless wire the train reconnects the high voltage systems. 10:16 HSL Non-Stopping Area Groene Hart As soon as we reach the point where we cannot stop before the tunnel anymore the non-stopping area is announced. From this point on we do our very best to not stop in the tunnel. Of course when the situation asks for it a full stop will be made anyways. But we do like to prevent this. 10:45 HSL Groene Harttunnel Zuid Longest and deepest railway tunnel in The Netherlands. About 33 meters underground. 13:27 HSL Groene Harttunnel Noord Temporary speed limit because of 12 viaducts that needs repairing. Big failures were made while building this part of the HSL. 16:25 HSL Hoogmade Overloopwissels 17:18 HSL Ringvaartaquaduct We're passing a waterway here. Maximum speed allowed for a short time. 20:10 Nieuw Vennep 20:57 HSL Hoofddorp Overloopwissels 21:33 Stop Marker Board Explained When driving in Level 1 or 2 trains still run from 'block' to 'block'. These blocks are separated with Stop Marker Boards. When another trains would block our path, our movement authority always ends at point like this. 21:47 Leaving the HSL - Voltage Change-Over Hoofddorp Opstel Just like when entering the HSL everything works fully automatic on ICNG. The driver checks if all is working correctly, keeping the right speed, checking the upcoming light signal and confirming the transfer back from ERTMS to ATB. 23:29 Hoofddorp 24:30 Schipholtunnel 25:21 Schiphol Airport The only in between stop on the route. We'll make a 3 minute stopover. We stop at stop sign 6 with our 8 carriages of ICNG (shorter carriages than older trains). 33:19 Riekerpolder Connection - Repeater and Danger Point Explained Get ready for two explanations in a short time here! 35:04 Final P-signal Explained 35:57 Dispatcher Operated Signal Explained 36:18 Delayed Train Ahead - Amsterdam Lelylaan Taking it easy because there's slightly delayed train in our path. 38:37 Erasmusgracht Connection + Amsterdam Sloterdijk 40:47 WUBO Explained 41:15 Transformatorweg Connection + Zaanstraat 42:18 Singelgracht Connection 42:47 Houtmanspoorbrug 43:10 Train Manager Request Busy train manager requests station announcement. 43:44 Amsterdam Centraal We arrive at our final stop. Lots of staff on the platform so I had to blur them out. We'll wait with opening the doors until the safety staff is located near the door where the problems with the passenger happened. I hope you enjoyed the ride. Leave a comment and spread the love!
