Instead of using a traditional V6, Nissan went with a SUPERCHARGED 4 cylinder on their hybrid version of the Pathfinder. In this video, I'll be tearing into their infamous 2.5L engine to see what's inside, how it works and how it differs from a standard QR25DE engine you'd find in an Altima or Rogue.
The Supercharger uses a belt pulley drive to rotate its impellers. You can find out more about how the supercharger from this engine works in this video:

This Pathfinder's engine, when hybridized with an electric motor in between the engine and the transmission, produces merely 10 less HP than the standard VQ35DE V6 engine found in many other Pathfinders of this era (2013-2020 R52 chassis code). Compared to the Toyota Highlander's 3.5 V6 + Hybrid setup, it did not compete well and was discontinued after a few model years.
