Backlash over Home Office plans to use more military barracks for asylum seeker

► The Home Office is planning to use more former military barracks to house thousands of asylum seekers, as it works to end the controversial, and costly, use of hotels. But the plans are not going down well with locals and could prove more expensive. Reports last month suggesting the average cost of housing migrants in hotels was £144 a night, compared to £160 per night at military bases.
