Energy expert on how to beat price cap rise and higher bills | 5 News

► Millions of Brits are being urged to take action now to avoid higher energy bills with the price cap rising on Wednesday. An estimated 5.3 million households on standard tariffs, who don’t have a smart meter, are being urged to submit a meter reading before the price cap, set by regulator, Ofgem, rises 13 percent. Households that don’t submit up-to-date meter readings risk having some of their June usage charged at the more expensive rate. Based on the new rates, the average gas and electricity bill will increase by £221 to £1,862 a year.
