JSW MG Motor India has introduced MG ADAPT (Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology), positioned as India's first multi-New Energy Vehicle (NEV) modular platform. Rather than forcing separate engineering setups for different propulsion types, it uses a single unified architecture to reduce development costs and drastically shorten product turnaround times. 1. One Platform, Four Powertrains The defining highlight of MG ADAPT is its absolute modularity. It accommodates both 400V and 800V electrical architectures and supports four completely distinct electrified setups out of the box: * Pure Electric Vehicles (BEVs): Traditional all-electric battery layouts. * Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs): Combining standard plug-in charging with a combustion backup. * Strong Hybrids (HEVs): Traditional self-charging hybrid technology. * Range Extender Electric Vehicles (REEVs): An electric-first setup where the wheels are exclusively driven by the electric motor, and the onboard petrol engine acts solely as a generator to recharge the battery pack on the go. 2. Advanced Hardware Ecosystem For its hybrid applications, MG has integrated a highly localized, specialized component stack under the skin: * Dedicated Hybrid Engine: Instead of just modifying a regular petrol engine, this mill is built purely for hybrid duties, achieving an ultra-high thermal efficiency of up to 43% to minimize fuel burn. * 10-in-1 Intelligent Electric Drive Unit: A first for India, this highly consolidated unit integrates a permanent magnet synchronous motor, a 2-stage reduction gearbox, and power electronics into a single compact casing, reducing mechanical clutter and saving weight. * Electromagnetic Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT): Bypassing conventional electronic CVTs, it features a unique electromagnetic e-clutch that delivers four times quicker response times and crisp mechanical gear shifts for a sharper driving experience. 3.
