EV Pre Reg Explodes in June… So Why Are EV Sales Falling? 🤡 #ElectricCars #EVSales #CarMarket The June 2026 Brego Car Insight report has revealed a very interesting contradiction. Pre-registered EV volumes reportedly increased by 27.7% in June, yet overall used-EV sales fell by 7.5%. EV market share also dropped, sales among the ten best-selling used EVs fell by 17.1%, and volumes among the fastest-selling EVs fell by 26.3%. So how can this possibly be presented as evidence of strong EV demand? In this video, I examine the report’s figures, its methodology and the enormous difference between cars being registered and cars being bought by genuine retail customers. I also look at: • The sharp increase in pre-registered EV stock • Why registration does not automatically equal demand • Falling used-EV sales and market share • The tiny sales samples used in fastest-selling tables • Why rising average EV prices may simply reflect model mix • Manufacturer and dealer half-year targets • Discounting, incentives and forced registrations • The difference between advertised prices and actual transaction prices • Why selected EVs selling quickly does not prove the entire market is healthy The report claims EV demand remained reasonably good, but its own figures show declining sales, declining share and weakening volumes among leading models.
