Tug of War is a competition between two teams who pull on opposite ends of a rope. The goal is simple: pull the other team across a designated line or marker. 📜 History • Tug of War dates back thousands of years, with early versions found in ancient civilizations like China, Egypt, and Greece. • It was even part of the Olympic Games from 1900 to 1920. • Today, it is governed internationally by the Tug of War International Federation (TWIF). 🪢 🧍‍♂️ 1. Proper Body Position • Lean back at about a 45-degree angle—don’t stand upright. • Keep your knees bent and body low. • Your weight should be “sitting” into the rope, not just pulling with arms. 👉 Think of it as holding your ground, not just pulling. 👣 2. Footwork Matters • Plant your feet firmly with one foot slightly ahead of the other. • Dig your heels into the ground for traction. • Avoid stepping too much—sliding = losing. 🤝 3. Team Synchronization • Everyone must pull at the same time—not randomly. • Use a leader (usually at the front or middle) to shout commands like: • “Pull!” • “Hold!” • Rhythm is key: 1…2…PULL! 🪝 4. The Anchor Role • The last person (anchor) wraps the rope across their body. • They act as the main stabilizer of the team. • Usually the strongest and most experienced member. 🔄 5.
