The exact generation BMW lost it's magic

The BMW Z4 E89 is a good car. In many ways, it’s a better car than the BMWs that came before it. And that’s exactly the problem. In this episode of Steering Feel Review, I take the BMW Z4 E89 out on real roads to understand why it feels so different from older BMWs. The steering is lighter, the car is more refined, and everything feels smoother and easier to live with. For most people, that’s probably an improvement. But for me, this feels like the exact point BMW changed direction. I break down how the car behaves during spirited driving and normal everyday use, looking at steering feel, feedback, confidence and driver engagement. While the Z4 is comfortable, capable and genuinely easy to enjoy as a daily driver, it lacks some of the communication and involvement that made older BMWs feel special.
