Townhouses Plummeting in Value North of Dallas
Condos and townhomes are tanking in value across the U.S. housing market. We’re seeing 15%, 20%, even 30% declines. Here in Dallas, sellers are unloading townhomes for around $200,000 after 34% price cuts. Zillow estimates show values down 27% over the last three years. This isn’t isolated. Data from Reventure App shows home values are now down year over year across Texas, with Dallas falling even faster.
The main driver is inventory. Supply has surged, and buyers are stepping back. But there’s another major problem in Texas: fixed costs. In this townhome community, property taxes run over $6,000 per year. HOA fees add another $5,000 per year. That’s $11,000 annually before a mortgage, insurance, or maintenance.
