Larry, The Downing Street Cat - Manservant away

I have just learned that my manservant has departed for France to attend a three-day summit with a collection of world leaders, diplomats, advisers, security personnel, and other important-looking humans who spend a great deal of time discussing matters of global significance. This is excellent news. It means that, for the next few days, I have unrestricted access to the house and can finally conduct the sort of thorough inspections that have been impossible under normal operating conditions. Most importantly, I can have a proper nose around his office. Now, I should point out that I have no interest whatsoever in state secrets, international treaties, or briefing papers. I am a cat. What interests me is whether he has hidden any biscuits in a drawer, whether his chair is comfortable, and why humans insist on covering perfectly good desks with mountains of paper when they could just as easily cover them with tuna. Speaking of which, I am considering asking the chef to prepare a generous supply of tuna sandwiches. I shall then take them into the office and consume them at leisure while sitting in the Prime Minister's chair, contemplating affairs of state and perhaps batting a few important-looking documents onto the floor. There is also a strong possibility that I may accidentally leave a few crumbs behind. Not many, you understand. Just enough to ensure that, upon his return from solving the world's problems, he is confronted by the far greater challenge of discovering mysterious flakes of tuna sandwich in places where no tuna sandwich should reasonably be found. This, I feel, is an important reminder that, however high one rises in public life, there remains a cat somewhere quietly undermining one's authority. I shall, of course, continue to monitor developments closely. For professional reasons.
