CDTX 8314 Train 530 North| Tennyson High School/Schafer Rd. Pedestrian Railroad Crossing, Hayward CA

July 7, 2026 After filming the Pedestrian crossing down on Industrial, I came to this one I had planned to film also. This crossing features a protected gate-like feature over the lights to prevent the lights from being broken by vandalism but it appears the ones on the left signal were removed a while ago due to the LED light replacements that happened more recent than the close signals. The close signal here also features RSI LEDs that UP briefly used across the Bay Area. This crossing is referred too by other YouTube channels as the Schafer Rd pedestrian crossing and I see why because I can't fit my title in barely but this crossing is actually named on documents as the Tennyson High School Pedestrian Crossing Path since the school is just on the other side eof the tracks. I just referred to it as both the Tennyson High School and Schafer Rd Pedestrian crossing since other railfans referred it as Schafer Rd. From my guess, I knew it would be names after the school since it is its path to it and it's just on the other side and Schafer Rd is the nearby intersection actually. I found the name out after coming across documents announcing that this crossing is about to be rebuilt soon and will be parallel to the tracks and then only turn to cross the tracks at the crossing and have brand new gated pedestrian crossing signals installed so I'm glad to have been able to film these old signals at this Pedestrian Crossing before the project starts here. Several Bay Area crossings through Hayward, Union City, and Fremont and more are planned to receive pedestrian upgrades also. The projects are anned to happen at the end of this year or the beginning of the next year.
