The PGA TOUR returns to one of its most prestigious stops this week with the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday at Muirfield Village Golf Club, where a world-class field assembles for the latest Signature Event of the 2026 season. Headlining the field is World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who arrives seeking a rare piece of PGA TOUR history as he attempts to become the first player since Steve Stricker (2009-11 John Deere Classic) to win the same tournament in three consecutive years. Scheffler, who finished solo third in his most recent start at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, has thrived at Jack Nicklaus’ famed layout and returns as the two-time defending champion. Rory McIlroy makes his first appearance at Muirfield Village since 2024, bringing renewed momentum after his Masters victory earlier this season. The four-time major champion recorded four consecutive top-20 finishes at the Memorial before missing last year’s edition, with a career-best result of T4 in 2016. Joining Scheffler and McIlroy is a deep group of contenders, including FedExCup Nos. 2 and 3 Cameron Young and Matt Fitzpatrick, who have combined for five victories already in 2026. Fitzpatrick owns three career top-10 finishes at the Memorial, while Young posted his best result at the event a year ago. Several of the TOUR’s hottest players also arrive in strong form. Ludvig Åberg continues an impressive spring run that has featured six top-eight finishes in his last nine starts, while Russell Henley returns fresh off his victory at the Charles Schwab Challenge and looks to build on last year’s T5 finish at Muirfield Village. The field also welcomes back PGA Championship winner Aaron Rai, who makes his first start since lifting the Wanamaker Trophy. Overall, the field boasts nine of the top 10 players in the Official World Golf Ranking, including Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, Xander Schauffele and J.J. Spaun, highlighting the elite nature of the Signature Event format. Played on the historic Jack Nicklaus and Desmond Muirhead design, Muirfield Village Golf Club has been a fixture on the PGA TOUR schedule since 1976 and remains one of the circuit’s most demanding tests. With 700 FedExCup points available to the winner and Scheffler chasing a landmark third straight title, the Memorial Tournament once again promises to be one of the defining weeks of the PGA TOUR season.
