Unlike conventional chemical batteries that require more time to charge as their capacity increases, quantum batteries leverage subatomic entanglement to charge faster as more cells are added to the system. The current proof of concept charges in femtoseconds and maintains its state for nanoseconds, demonstrating a significant ratio between charging speed and energy retention. While the technology is currently limited to small-scale capacities of a few billion electron volts, its theoretical maturity could enable remote laser charging for drones in flight and continuous power for electric vehicles.
