Auto Trader: Add a Battery State Of Health Certificate Search!— Fix Used EV Trust! Auto Trader says it wants to help EV sales and build confidence in the used EV market. So why won’t it add a simple search filter for used EVs with a Battery State Of Health Certificate? In this video, I look at Auto Trader’s reply to my suggestion and explain why I believe they are missing a massive opportunity. A battery health certificate search would help buyers, help dealers, improve valuations, and bring much-needed trust, transparency and honesty to used EV adverts. I explain why battery condition is one of the most important factors in the value of a used EV, why two identical EVs can be worth very different amounts depending on the battery, and why Auto Trader’s current approach leaves buyers and dealers guessing. I also look at how a national battery testing network could work, how even smaller dealers could use local testing stations, and why this could improve Auto Trader’s own valuation algorithm instead of forcing it to assume every EV battery is “average”.
