I put the Dyson V9 and Dyson V12 through a grueling series of real-world cleaning tests to find out which vacuum actually performs better. Both vacuums were tested using common household debris — coffee grounds, quinoa, pet litter, sand, and Quaker oats — on hard floors and carpet, including deep-cleaning tests. The result? The V12 picked up more overall — but by less than one percent. On hard floors, the V12 had the advantage thanks to its Laser Slim Fluffy roller and green laser, which makes fine dust easier to see and remove compared to the V9’s Motorbar nozzle. On carpet, things were closer. The V9 slightly outperformed the V12 with surface debris, while the V12’s stronger airflow helped it pull more dirt during deep-cleaning tests.
