Looking at what other channels were making, going with my gut, throwing ideas at the wall. The channel wasn't growing. What changed everything was when we started treating the channel like a business and leaned into the search side of YouTube. Instead of guessing, we started looking at what people were actually searching for - the exact keywords and phrases they were typing into YouTube and Google - and then we'd make those videos. That approach helped us grow to where we are now. But the YouTube algorithm has gotten much smarter since then. It understands video content at a much deeper level now and has gotten really good at surfacing the right content to the right person. So I've added another layer to how I find video topics for YouTube. Using AI tools and our own analytics data, I can now see which videos are actually driving results for the business, not just views. I'll walk you through my full process for picking brand new video ideas, deciding which older videos to update, and how search volume, performance data, and AI all play a role in every decision.
