#shorts How to Set Up Claude + Power BI Modeling MCP Server for No-Code Power BI

Before you can build a Power BI semantic model from a natural language prompt — you need to set up your machine correctly. In this short clip from my full video on No-Code Power BI using Claude AI and the Power BI Modeling MCP Server, I walk through exactly what you need to install and configure to get started. Here is the full setup checklist: ✅ Power BI Desktop — must be installed and running. The Power BI Modeling MCP Server connects to a semantic model open in Desktop. ✅ Claude Desktop — the desktop application for Claude AI. Download from claude.ai. This is where you type your prompts and where the MCP Server connection is configured. ✅ Power BI Modeling MCP Server — the bridge between Claude and your semantic model. Installed via npm. Once configured in Claude Desktop's settings file, Claude can read, edit, and build your model. ✅ Node.js — required to install and run the Power BI Modeling MCP Server via npm. Install from nodejs.org. ✅ The MCP configuration in Claude Desktop — a simple JSON entry in Claude Desktop's settings that tells it where the Power BI MCP Server is and how to connect. Once this is set up — you open a semantic model in Power BI Desktop, switch to Claude, and start prompting.
