A large majority of us want to wake up at the start of the day, with a clear sense of purpose on tackling what’s ahead. Some people just want stability, some people want enjoyment, some people want more. However, it’s easy to lose that sense of direction when faced with hurdles that may seem insurmountable. We want to write our own story, and we want to be the people that overcome those hurdles, whatever they may be. Yet, sometimes we can’t do it on our own, sometimes it pays for some reassurance, some positivity, someone to help us write those stories, or to share theirs.
Inspirational content has really garnered a stranglehold on YouTube, particularly in times where negativity can consume us, positive videos with clear moral messages can serve as real escapism that doesn’t cost us anything. Whether that’s an individual talking directly to us about overcoming our struggles, or short films that serve as parallels to our lives, it’s sometimes important to remember that amongst the headlines, and conflict, there are still virtues in the world worth giving a damn about and that there are people out there fighting for them, even if those videos are as simple as tutorials and favours for others.
Those videos with that optimistic message, no matter how simple, can fill viewers with some kind of warmth, and comfort in a world that feels simultaneously fiery and frigid as of late, but an inconvenient truth continues to loom: where there’s some emotional response, there’s always something to be sold.
