EMERGENCY: Virus Sweeps Through Our Rescue, Leaving Dogs Sick And Vet Bills Soaring [STORY BELOW]

Right now, a mysterious respiratory illness is sweeping through our rescue, and we are desperately trying to stay ahead of it before more dogs become sick. What started as a few concerning symptoms has quickly turned into every rescuer's nightmare. So far, nine dogs are showing signs of illness, and we are working around the clock to care for them while trying to protect the nearly 60 dogs who call our rescue home. At first, we believed we were simply dealing with kennel cough. But as more dogs became symptomatic, it became clear that something else may be happening. Our veterinarian now believes there is likely a virus involved as well. Yesterday, we rushed sweet Fergie to the vet for advanced testing and cultures in hopes of identifying exactly what we are fighting. Until those results come back, we are treating symptoms, isolating sick dogs, increasing cleaning and sanitation efforts, and doing everything possible to stop this from spreading further. The financial impact has been immediate and overwhelming. In just the past week alone, we have spent nearly $3,000 on veterinary visits, diagnostics, medications, testing, and supportive care. And unfortunately, we know more expenses are coming. As additional dogs begin showing symptoms or require treatment, the costs continue to rise. Every phone call from the vet leaves us bracing for what comes next. What makes this especially difficult is that rescue doesn't stop while we're dealing with this outbreak. The dogs still need food. They still need daily care, cleaning, medications, and love. We are burning through disinfectants, cleaners, supplements, laundry supplies, food, and other essentials at an alarming rate as we work to keep everyone healthy and safe. We hate asking for help, but right now we truly need it.
