宵宮祭２０２６ #平塚三嶋神社　#須賀の祭り 日本には、数え切れないほど素晴らしい祭りがあります。 その中でも、平塚・三嶋神社「須賀の祭り」は、私が最も愛する祭りの一つです。 その理由は、千年以上受け継がれてきた歴史でも、神々への深い信仰でも、勇壮な神輿だけでもありません。 もちろん、それらはこの祭りの大きな魅力です。 しかし、私の心を何よりも惹きつけるのは、この町の人々です。 祭りの日になると、誰もが自然に集まり、それぞれの役目を果たし、互いを支え合う。 その姿を見ていると、「絆」という言葉の本当の意味を教えられているような気がします。 私は祭りを見に来るたび、日本の伝統や神話だけではなく、人と人との温かい繋がりにも出会っています。 だからこそ、平塚へ来るたびに、不思議と「帰ってきた」という気持ちになるのです。 私にとって、この町はもう第二の故郷です。 そして今年もまた、その特別な一日が静かに始まります。 Japan is home to countless extraordinary festivals. Among them, the Suga Festival at Hiratsuka Mishima Shrine is one of the three festivals that has captured my heart the most. The reason is not only its thousand-year history, its deep connection with the kami, or the magnificent mikoshi. Of course, those are part of what makes this festival so special. But above all, it is the people of Hiratsuka who keep bringing me back. On the day of the festival, everyone naturally comes together, each person knowing their role, supporting one another with quiet dedication. Watching them, I feel I am witnessing the true meaning of kizuna—the bonds that unite a community. Whenever I come to a matsuri, I do not come only to experience Japan's traditions, legends, and Shinto heritage. I come to experience its people. That is why, every time I return to Hiratsuka, I feel something unexpected. I do not feel like a visitor. I feel as though I have come home. For me, Hiratsuka has become a second home. And once again, another unforgettable day quietly begins. 私がこれまで日本で数え切れないほどの祭りを見てきた中で、平塚・三嶋神社「須賀の祭り」は、間違いなく私の大好きな祭り三つのうちの一つです。 なぜ、これほどまでに心を惹かれるのでしょうか。 それは神輿の迫力だけではありません。 祭りは神輿が動き出す瞬間から始まるのではなく、静かな朝、一人ひとりが自分の役目を果たし始める、その瞬間からすでに始まっているからです。 里神楽の舞台が整えられ、弓張提灯が掲げられ、五基の神輿が静かに組み上げられていく。 町会神輿三基、本社中神輿、そして本社特大神輿。 誰一人として無駄な動きはなく、長年受け継がれてきた経験と信頼が、静かな境内に流れています。 その光景を見ていると、日本という国が大切に守り続けてきた「和」の心とは何かを、自然と教えられるような気がします。 平塚三嶋神社は千年以上の歴史を持つと伝えられ、平安時代にはすでに多くの人々の信仰を集めていました。 御祭神は、清浄と厄除けを司るオオヤマヅミノミコト、そして福徳・商売繁盛・豊漁豊作の神として親しまれるコトシロヌシノオオカミ（えびす様）。 古くから港町・須賀の総鎮守として、この地域の人々を見守り続けてきました。 須賀の祭りは、流行病や災害を鎮め、地域の平穏無事、豊漁、豊作を祈るために受け継がれてきた伝統神事です。 神々は神輿に遷り、人々とともに町を巡り、祈りを届けます。 そして、この祭り最大の誇りとも言える本社特大神輿。 昭和五十三年から五十四年にかけ、氏子たちが心を一つにして新調した総重量約一トンの大神輿。 四方唐破風の屋根。 金箔に包まれた龍や獅子の彫刻。 翼を広げると二メートルを超える鳳凰。 まさに須賀の魂を象徴する存在です。 しかし、この祭りの本当の魅力は豪華さだけではありません。 毎年この日になると、この町を離れた人々も故郷へ帰ってきます。 祭りは神様を迎える日であると同時に、人と人が再び出会い、家族や仲間との絆を確かめ合う日でもあるのです。 だから私は、この祭りに特別な温かさを感じます。 勇ましさの中に優しさがあり、 静けさの中に情熱があり、 そして、この町には今も変わらない日本の心があります。 これが、須賀の祭り。 私が、何度でも帰って来たくなる場所です。 Here, the festival does not begin when the mikoshi starts to move. It begins much earlier... In the quiet morning, when every person silently takes their place and fulfills their role. The stage for Satokagura is prepared. Traditional yumihari lanterns are raised. Five mikoshi are carefully assembled. Three neighborhood mikoshi. The shrine's medium mikoshi. And finally, the magnificent Grand Mikoshi. No unnecessary movement. No confusion. Only harmony born from generations of experience and trust. Watching these preparations, I cannot help but feel that this is the very spirit of Japan. Hiratsuka Mishima Shrine has been revered for more than a thousand years, with records suggesting that devotion to Mishima Myōjin already flourished during the Heian period. Its principal deities are Ōyamazumi-no-Mikoto, protector against misfortune and guardian of purity, and Kotoshironushi-no-Ōkami, beloved as Ebisu, the deity of prosperity, abundant harvests, successful fishing, and good fortune. For centuries, the shrine has protected the historic port town of Suga. The Suga Festival was handed down through generations as a sacred prayer for protection from epidemics and disasters, and for peace, abundant harvests, and prosperous fishing. During the festival, the kami leave the shrine aboard the mikoshi to bless the entire community. At the heart of this tradition stands the extraordinary Grand Mikoshi. Built through the united efforts of the parishioners, it weighs nearly one ton and is adorned with magnificent gilded carvings of dragons, lions, and a soaring phoenix whose wings stretch more than two meters wide. Yet, the true beauty of this festival cannot be measured by its grandeur alone. Every year, people return home from distant places simply to be here once again. Because this festival is more than a celebration. It is a reunion. A prayer. A memory. A promise that tradition will continue into the next generation. That is why the Suga Festival holds such a special place in my heart. Here, strength walks beside kindness. Silence carries devotion. And the timeless spirit of Japan continues to live on. This is the Suga Festival.
